I spent two nights at this lovely family-owned place, perfect for enjoying the wineries in the Douro Valley. The spacious room had a beautiful view and a cozy atmosphere. Casa De Sao Domingos was a huge disappointment. The staff were not friendly, and the breakfast was incredibly bland. After all the inconvenience of getting in, I woudl ve expected a complimentary drink or something special to make up for it, but of course, that didn’t happen, just couldn’t see the positives here.

Also, limited privacy on the shared balcony could be improved, as it felt open to the other guests. Overall, a beautiful and cozy place!

Unfortunately, the noise from the nearby road was quite disruptive at night, making it hard to sleep. Even though our room was located at the back of the house, the thin walls offered little soundproofing. The scenic environment was marred by the lack of clarity on how to access the property upon arrival, as we were left confused outside with no greeting or assistance available, which left a bittersweet taste in an otherwise picturesque stay.

The room was nice enough, having that stunning view of the valley, and the pool? It was a joy, perfect for cooling off after a hot day. The breakfast was great but I really wanted coffee in the room, ended up with teabags instead. Oh and the self-service cold drinks were handy, but no price list near the fridge, a little annoying.

It wasn’t exactly cheap, but considering the location it was fair enough.

Had a great group trip! The property felt like an oasis, with relaxing spaces and friendly staff. We loved the generous breakfast and the stunning pool area. We hiked in the nearby trails and cycled through scenic routes, making our stay even more enjoyable. Just a heads up, the walk back to town is a steep one, but worth it for the views!
